EscEscape by Cheapflights – Where will you escape to?

Have you ever found yourself sitting at your desk, swamped with work, wishing to escape on a city break at the end of the week? Maybe you’re dreaming of enjoying a gelato in Rome, or of relaxing on the beach from a Greek island, or of skiing in the French Alps, or of partying till morning in Majorca, or of exploring the canals of Amsterdam, or maybe even of hiking the fjords of Norway. I know I did, many times. To be honest though, sometimes I simply don’t have the time to search and play with the dates until I find the best flights.

What if I’d tell you that if you are using Chrome browser you are only two-taps away from the cheapest, the quickest and the smartest weekend getaway, selected from the upcoming eight weeks? And that it’s free?

Cheapflights has launched the EscEscape free browser extension for Google Chrome, an app that lets you find the perfect flights for your weekend away just by tapping the “Esc” key on your keyboard twice. By installing it not only that you will be able to find the best priced tickets but you can also win a pair of return flights for you and a friend.

The EscEscape (pronounced Escape Escape) extension has been launched in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zeeland and it takes seconds to install. When you double tap the Esc key a new tab will open and you will be shown the best weekend flights from your nearest airport to the cheapest five different destinations. For the UK, US and Canada only flights within a five-hour flight time are selected while for Australia and New Zeeland the time goes up to 8 hours (so that popular destinations like Fiji are included as well).

Let’s see how it works:

First, I installed the extension on my Chrome browser by clicking here.

Second, I entered the competition to win a pair of flights for me and a friend.

Third, I double tapped the Esc key and I received a very cool suggestion for where to spend my big 3-0 birthday (which is on the 16th of June and for which I didn’t book a flight yet). The app even tells me that if I change the airport to a nearby one I can save more than half the price!

What destination did you get?

  1. That is such a cool concept for finding a cheap flight destination! I’ve never seen anything like it! x
    Lots of love,

  2. The video was really funny, but I love it. This app is cool! The thought of just tappin the Esc button twice when you downloaded the app is just genious. do you think it works in Asia too?since you mentioned that it’s launched only in US, NZ, UK, Canada and Australia…

  3. This is going to become my new best friend! I am downloading the extension as we speak. Honestly, thank you so much for sharing something so helpful! x

  4. This is a dream come true! Crazy how things are getting easier and easier to do nowadays. My boyfriend travels ALOT will be letting him know about this! Xx

  5. This is actually my first time hearing of cheap flights but I really like the idea of their extension and how you can win a holiday for two. That would be simply amazing x

  6. I love the idea of tapping the esc key on the keyboard twice and being transported to the perfect upcoming flights. It’s the equivalent of having ruby slippers that transport you to Kansas.. except I’d probably chose somewhere a bit more exotic than that when using the browser extension!

  7. This sounds great, i’ve recently gone back to package holidays but next year i’m planning some mini breaks. I love the idea of the double tap of the esc wish it just transported you away rather than having to go via the airport!!

  8. I wish I knew this before my flight to Utah. I had to pay almost 60 bucks extra for a carry on. If I knew that I would have gotten a slightly more expensive flight that would have cost me less in the long run.

  9. I’m away from the UK at the moment in a no EscEscape country but when I get back one of the first things I’ll do is press escape twice and see what comes up. I love how the name Escape Escape is so easy to remember and I already use Chrome! Let’s hope I get lucky with the price and destination!

  10. I never knew that I can do that to get a really cheap flight. I use the website every time I want to book a flight and they are really awesome!

  13. I’m really excited to check this out! We have a couple of destinations on our vacation list this summer and the thought of searching online for the best price has really seemed daunting. How fun that they offer the competition .. I’d love to win a couple of tickets!

  14. This is a fantastic idea really! I have three tours coming up soon this year and I am going to give your suggestions a try! Escape button to escape!. lol… Good writeup, btw 🙂

  16. This is a brilliant idea! I am also in search of a cheap, close getaway, but never have the time to actively search. I will have to try this out! My husband has a big 3-0 birthday coming up as well. EscEscape will be the perfect way to save and find the perfect destination!

  17. I love the concept!
Of course, I am lucky enough to full-time travel so I don’t find myself sitting at work and wishing to escape. But when the extension comes to the rest of the World it might be fun to let their algorithm decide where I should head next….

    Happy travels!
    C
