Can you believe that Christmas is already around the corner? When did the year pass already?
It’s about time to think about our dear ones and what wonderful gifts are we going to give them this festive season. So, today I want to talk to you about gifting a foodie hamper this Christmas. I have been doing it for a few years now because it’s a very easy way to reach my friends who live in different cities. I just don’t have the time to go shopping, wrap the presents and then queue for ages at the post office to send my gifts. Plus, I am always traveling around Christmas time anyway. So ordering a festive hamper online it’s a very convenient way to do some of my Christmas shopping.
This year Prestige Hampers has sent me this wonderful Fabulous Christmas Hamper to review. As always, the hamper was wonderfully packaged inside a big box secured with paper wrap. The items were arranged in a gorgeous handmade Wicker basket which I am going to reuse for picnics, next summer.
Prestige Hampers is a UK based company specialising in food and drinks hampers. They have so many options on their website that it’s impossible not to find a gift for every member of your family (and for your budget as well). They also have a high rating score on Trust Pilot, where more than 5,000 people have left their positive reviews about their experience using the company. The beauty of ordering a Prestige Hamper is that you can schedule the date when you want it to arrive, so, if you are a winter traveller such as myself, you can make sure that your gifts will arrive to your dear ones at Christmas time, and not two weeks before.
So, what’s inside the Fabulous Christmas Prestige Hamper?
A box of Yorkshire Crisps
Beautifully packaged in a box and not a bag, I liked that there were plenty of crisps inside. Yorkshire Crisps is a luxury brand who pride themselves with producing hand cooked crisps using only natural ingredients and fried in sunflower oil. The company uses different types of potatoes from the local farmers in Yorkshire and salts the crisps only with natural sea salt.
They are very tasty and perfect to munch on whilst reading a book or watching a movie.
A selection of Waters Edge Wines
The hamper includes three Founders Stone wines: the red Merlot, the rose White Zinfandel and the white Pinot Grigio. I am more of a red wine drinker so it was nice to explore other tastes and discover the rose, which I would usually never buy. The White Zinfandel had a delicate taste with fruity flavours of strawberries and melon. I enjoyed the Merlot as well, which was full bodied with hints of dark chocolate and plums. The Pinot Grigio was dry and sharp, with citrusy flavours and hints of green apple.
Belgian Chocolate Thins
I never had Belgian chocolate thins before, so I was excited to try them out. I didn’t really know what to expect from the packaging and I imagined them being some sort of biscuits. Well, inside of the box I was surprised by delicious thin pieces of chocolate, which tasted amazing. I loved the delicate creamy taste of the thins combined with the slight crunch of the crispy rice puffs filling.
Black Olives Biscuits from Farmhouse Biscuits
These black olive biscuits are perfect to serve next to a cheeseboard, on one of the festive evenings this holiday season. With a hard texture but a creamy taste, they don’t crumble and are great to pair with a blue cheese such as gorgonzola or stilton. The biscuits have an intense olive taste with hints of garlic and basil.
Christmas Marmalade from MacKay
The hamper includes two jars of Christmas preserve from the Scottish producer MacKay’s, one with mulled wine and the other with cranberries. They are both delightful! As soon as I opened the jars, I could feel the smell of Christmas taking over my kitchen.
They are delicious on warm toast, spread over butter. I could see these as perfect breakfasts for the cold winter mornings.
Ooh Chocolata Natural Blond
No festive hamper should miss a classic bar of chocolate, especially when it is an artisanal made one. Ooh Chocalata White chocolate is part of the Blond collection, which celebrate the taste of white chocolate. It is handmade in Bristol by a local family business and I have to say, it tastes delicious: creamy, flavoursome, melting in your mouth.
A box of Yellow Clock Afternoon Tea
The packaging of this box of tea is so cute, making me think instantly of Big Ben. There are 10 packs of tea inside the box, but I didn’t open it yet to try it.
A Matthew Walker Luxury Christmas Pudding
No Christmas hamper would be complete without a luxury Christmas pudding, such as the one from Matthew Walker included in this Festive Prestige Hamper. If you didn’t know, Matthew Walker is the original Christmas Pudding maker, dating all the way back in 1899!
The luxurious Christmas pudding is rich and moist, full of vine fruits, cherries, almonds and walnuts, infused with cider and rum. I have to admit that I couldn’t resit until Christmas and I ate the pudding already.
A box of Belgid’Or Belgian Cocoa Dusted Truffles with Marc De Champagne
Made with real Belgian chocolate, these truffles are a delightful and decadent treat. This is definitely a box of truffles not to share, infused with the delicate flavour of the Marc de Champagne.
