How Anyone Can Travel More

Ask people what they wish they could do more of, and invariably you’ll hear the answer: “travel.” One of the problems with this answer is that it suggests that we all have to simply accept the amount we can travel and that there’s nothing we can do about it. But this, of course, is not true — if you want to travel more, then you can. It’s just that many people don’t know that they’re more in control of this factor of their life than they realise. In this blog, we’re going to take a look at a few useful tips that’ll have you going on more trips than you usually do, almost instantly.

Make it a Priority

Your life reflects what you value. If you value money, then you’ll have a life that is geared towards that ambition. And if you value travel, then you’ll have a passport that’s filled with stamps from all over the world. Now, realistically you can’t dedicate your life towards travelling. There are, after all, practical matters to think about here. But could you make it more of a priority than it currently is? Most likely. Moving forward, put taking trips towards the top of your priority list. You’ll find that you’re going on more journeys once you’ve put travelling to the forefront of your mind.

Local Trips

When we think of travelling, many of us think that the only option we have is to board a plane and take a trip to some far-flung destination. But this isn’t the case. While those adventures might be the standout trips, you can also look at taking shorter, local trips too. No matter where in the world you’re based, there will likely be something interesting nearby that you haven’t seen before. So why not look at taking a short break over there? If you commit to one mini-break each month, you’ll always keep the travel bug alive. These trips can be highly affordable and also offer a chance to break out from the norm too. For example, if you have a high-quality tent, then you’ll be able to camp all the year-round in a spot close to your home.

Saving Money

It’s just a fact of life that if we’re going to travel, then we’ll need to have some money in the bank. But do we need to be rich? We don’t think so. While it would be nice if you could afford to splash the cash on whatever you want, the reality is that this is a luxury that’s only reserved for the rich and famous. If you’re like the rest of us, then you’ll need to know how to save money. Booking in advance, looking for discount codes, and avoiding tourist traps will all help. Indeed, just by taking a thoughtful approach to things, you can cut your expenses down significantly.

Use Your Time

For some people, the issue with travelling is that they don’t think that they have enough money to do it properly. That’s not the case, as we’ve seen above. For others, the problem is that they don’t have time to travel. While we’re all busier than ever before, we still have a lot of time. For example, what about weekends? They come around each week, and if we can take the time to plan something, then we could enjoy a little break from Friday evening through to Sunday evening (or Monday morning, if you’re feeling brave). They’re just the regular weekends, too. What about the Bank Holiday weekends or other breaks that we get throughout the year? There’ll be times when you want to stay at home for whatever reason, but as a default, you could look at using the time to go on a short break.

Make It Easy

Another reason people don’t travel as much as they’d like is because of the energy and effort it takes to make everything happen. And that’s a fair point: while it’s fun to be overseas, you have to do a lot to make it happen. However, there are things you can do to make things easier. One such way is to set up a base overseas. If you have a hdb rental flat, then you’ll be able to simply pack your bags, grab a flight, and then settle into your flat once you land. From there, you’ll be able to explore all the nearby countries — or you could just sit back and enjoy life in Singapore. It’s all about making the process of travelling as straightforward as possible.

Invest in Gear

Another reason why people don’t travel as much as they’d like: they’re afraid of the cold weather. You’ll travel a lot less if you’re only willing to take flights during the summer months. Travelling in the winter months is different, but it’s not terrible — providing that you have the right clothes. If you invest in the right gear, then you’ll be much more willing to get out there and brave the temperatures. Remember that there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.

Find a Gang

It’s fun to travel by yourself, but it’s better with a gang. If you can make friends with fellow travellers, then you’ll find that you’re never too far away from a trip. There’ll be times when you’re suggesting things, and times when they are — and that can really help to keep a person’s travel momentum alive over the years.

Believe It’s Possible

Finally, take a look at your mindset and general approach to travelling. We often make things much more difficult than they need to be because we don’t believe that it’s possible. If you think you’re not destined to travel, then you won’t. If you believe that you are, then you will. Don’t forget the old quote, which seems to be truer every day, which says “whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re correct.” Go into everything with some faith that things will work out, and they usually do.

Yes! I am such a big proponent of travel. It doesn’t have to be expensive or far. I think everyone should travel more and explore places near and far. Thank you for sharing. I hope this inspires many people to do the same!
