Treat yourself! Experience a luxury day in London

Are you celebrating a special birthday? Or your engagement? Did you get a promotion or started your dream job? Then why not treat yourself and go on a special luxury trip to London?

Fly in style

Global-6000

The first part of your luxurious trip to London actually starts at home, when you lock the door and head over to the airport. When you have only a day or two to explore London, timings are very important. And what if you live in a city that is not directly connected to London? It’s a shame to lose one day only on flights and navigating through airports.

So why not fly in style, with your own personal private jet? By choosing to fly with VistaJet, you only pay for the hours you are actually in the air, and not for any other positioning fees. Do you want to take your pooch with you on your trip? No worries, you can (just don’t forget to check the pets regulations if you are flying to the United Kingdom). Flying with a private jet means that you can have a tailor-made experience, where you choose your favorite food, your favourite bottle of wine and even get a chauffer to wait for you at the airport to take you straight to your hotel, hassle free!

Stay at Claridge’s London

Rumours say that Claridge’s London is one of the best 5 stars hotels in the world, and who am I to dismiss them? Luxurious, eclectic, elegant, glamorous and impeccable, these would be the 5 words that would describe Claridge’s.

Since 1856, when it opened, many celebrities have chosen Claridge’s as their favourite place to stay in London, so why not do the same? Claridge’s is not only luxury but it exceeds with its perfection and high-quality guests service. Here you are not just another visitor, you are THE guest.

The hotel features an art deco style, with pieces created by world famous influential designers.

VIP your way through the crowds and enjoy a glass of bubbly at the London Eye

Cliché or not, London Eye is one of the attractions that you can’t miss when you visit London. The views from the top are beautiful and, in my opinion, much better than from the Shard. London is not (yet) a tall city, and the height of the London Eye is perfect to observe the rooftops and the skyline of the city.

But London Eye is always crowded, you might think. Sure, but as a VIP, you can always skip the line and have an exclusive experience just for you and your friends. You can even rent a pod just for yourself!

Bubbly in the sky, with a view of London? Yes please! Skip the lines with a VIP ticket and enjoy the exclusive pre-boarding Lounge at the London Eye. You will get to ride London’s famous wheel twice, whilst enjoying a chocolate and truffle tasting from Hotel Chocolat together with two glasses of prosecco.

Is there a better way to start the day?

Shopping at The Harrods

There are two spots in London when you’re in the mood for some luxury shopping: The Harrods in Kensington and Bond street in Mayfair. You can easily spend an entire day without being able to pass by all 330 department of Harrods. If you only have a few hours to spare, check in with the personal shopping assistance “By Appointment”, a luxury service that provides you with a team dedicated to fulfil all your designer desires. The service is complimentary and includes a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce to take you and your shopping bags back to your hotel.

You can find most of the well-known designer creations in Harrods, such as Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Armani, Versace, Tiffani & Co, so there are plenty of choices on where to shop.

Afternoon tea at The BerkeleyPret_Hero

Nothing says “British” more than a traditional afternoon high tea. And where better to have tea with a twist than at the Berkeley Hotel? Head Pastry Chef Mourad Khiat has developed the Pret-a-Portea collection for the Berkeley, inspired by the latest creations on the fashion catwalks.

Go for the Couture Champagne Pret-a-Portea, which includes a glass of Laurent Perrier Rose, Bollinger Rose or Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, at your choice. Your high tea will include a selection of fusion sandwiches such as the juniper smoked salmon with pickled vegetables, horseradish cream, watercress and rye, or the grilled aubergine with piquillo peppers, olives, feta cheese and hummus on tomato bread. Yumm, right?

But this is not all! You high tea will also have a selection of savoury treats, such as Cornish crab or miso seared yellowfin tuna.

As delicious as what you’re read so far might sound, the best part is yet to come: the cakes and biscuits inspired by the world’s finest designers. This season, chef Mourad Khiat was inspired by Miu Miu, Tom Ford, Aruna Seth, Versace, Erdem, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph & Russo, Richard Quinn and Elie Saab.

Spa break at ESPA Life at the Corinthia

After all that shopping, you deserve a break! Minutes from Trafalgar Square, you will find the five stars Corinthia Hotel, home of the next generation of Spa, ESPA Life.

Probably the most luxurious spa in London, ESPA Life at the Corinthia Hotel is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon at. Their concept is a holistic approach to wellbeing, with personalised programmes created by globally acclaimed alternative health professionals. The spa is spread over 4 floors and has 17 treatment rooms, a private indoor pool, vitality pool, amphitheatre sauna and an ice fountain. The marble loungers are heated and there are also private sleeping pods, where you can continue the relaxation after having a treatment done.

My recommended package is the “Journey from Head to Toe”, which includes a Chinese fusion massage, a Chinese reflexology massage, use of the thermal floor facilities and a glass of bubbly.

Dinner at The Dorchester

After a wonderful afternoon spent at the spa, is time for diner, and my choice for a luxurious taste buds experience is the 3 Michelin stars Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester restaurant. Executive Chef Jean-Phillipe Blondet reimagines the modern French cuisine, with the fresh and seasonal ingredients being the main characters on the plate.

Dining at Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester is not only an evening out, but an entire experience, starting from the moment you step into the restaurant and are greeted by the soft, elegant decor and the attention to details. In fact, the décor is inspired by Alain Ducasse’s cuisine.

For dinner you can choose the 7-course tasting menu, or the a la carte. The menu changes every season, and it is always based on fresh ingredients. If you plan on visit the restaurant this season, you will find in the menu dishes like “Dorset crab, celeriac and caviar”, “Green asparagus from Provence and sea urchin”, Milk-fed lamb, green peas and mint”, and “Native lobster, celery and homardine sauce”. Hard to choose, isn’t it?

End your night with cocktails at Galvin at Windows

The night is still young, so after an exquisite dinner, move to the nearby Galvin at Windows bar, on top of the Hilton Park Lane hotel, at the 28th floor.

Now, as an avid traveller, this is my type of bar. Their signature cocktails menu has been inspired by the bar manager’s travels to different corners of the world. You will find in it cocktails that make you think of Japan, France, Greece, Cuba, Chile, Singapore, Madagascar and many other exciting countries. The menu itself is designed as a passport, with entry stamps and visas among which you can find the ingredients of the cocktails you are about to experience.

The bar also has a whiskey collection, so why not end the night with a 1948 Glenivet, as a treat?
