Carat London Tennis Bracelet Review

I don’t own much jewellery because I prefer to have timeless pieces that make a statement. I don’t like fast fashion, and when I invest in a piece of jewellery, I expect to have and wear it for a long time. I am not someone who buys earrings just because they are cute, wears them once or twice, then puts them in a box at the back of a drawer, and forgets all about them. I am a minimalist, and this applies to my jewellery box.

A few weeks ago, Carat London contacted me, asking if I would like to receive one of their tennis bracelets and give my opinion about it on my blog. After checking out their collection, I chose the Hailey round prong tennis, which I felt best fits my travelling lifestyle. I went for sterling silver, as it will easily match most of my outfits.

About Carat London

Carat London is a luxury jeweller who works exclusively with alternatives to mined gemstones to create elegant pieces of jewellery that will never go out of date. They use Cubic Zirconia crystals to create their jewellery. It is a synthetic stone which is created in the lab, giving the same visual appearance as real diamonds. Lab-created diamonds are not just much more ethical than mined ones, they are also more affordable. Because they look the same, many people who couldn’t afford the mined stones before, are now able to buy jewellery with stones that look exactly like them.

Besides beautiful bracelets for women, Carat London also designs earrings, necklaces and rings.

The brand is also a supporter of a sustainable alternative to mined gemstones, and a donor of the British Academy of Television and Arts, a non-profit foundation that supports the new talent in film and television.

Besides their own website, you can find Carat London Jewellery at retailers such as Selfridges, Ernst Jones, and Lane Crawford.

What is a Tennis Bracelet?

The bracelet arranged on top of the box, with a pink flower next to it.

The term “tennis bracelet” has been inspired by the professional tennis player Chris Evans, during one of the matches at the US Open, in 1987. Whilst she was playing against Wendy Turnbull, her diamond bracelet broke and fell off, leading to the game pausing until she found it. Jewellery companies saw this as an opportunity to create bracelets with secure clasps that won’t break or come undone, no matter what activity you are doing.

The Hailey Round Prong Tennis Bracelet

A photo of the bracelet inside its box

The Hailey Tennis bracelet arrived in an elegant box, perfectly wrapped in a lovely ribbon. When I opened the box, I noticed that the bracelet was beautifully displayed lengthways on a soft cushioned lining, gently held in place by two soft bands.

I love how delicate the bracelet is, and how beautifully it sits on my wrist.

I opted for the sterling silver finish and the 18cm length for my tennis bracelet. There are two options for the chain length: 16 cm and 18 cm. I went for the latter because I like a bracelet to be a bit loose on my wrist. I find close-fit bracelets quite uncomfortable. The 18cm was perfect for my wrist, leaving plenty of space for movement.

The Hailey Round Prong Bracelet has white stones, with a round brilliant cut. This is one of the most popular diamond cuts, with 58 facets that reflect the light, making it very sparkly.  Carat London makes sure that their stones are cut according to the ideal proportions of a diamond, guaranteeing perfection in every single gem.

The stones are polished in the same way as diamonds are, to provide the utmost brilliance, colour and clarity. They are CARAT* stones, made ethically in the lab. With a total of 9.5ct eq. round brilliant stones, this bracelet is a fashion statement that makes its owner stand out.

The clasp of the bracelet is strong and secure, with a sturdy clip as well as a stud and safety clasp on the side for extra safety. The bracelet won’t open until the stud is unhinged and the clasp is released by pressing the tiny clip next to it.

Final Thoughts

As someone who travels a lot, I have to be very careful with the pieces of jewellery I take with me. Firstly, I don’t want to lose them, and secondly, they have to be versatile and match all my outfits. The Hailey Tennis bracelet is the exact accessory I need, especially when I am attending events abroad.
