10 Fun Adventures To Do on a Weekend In Prague

Tourists love to flock to Prague, Czech Republic to bask in the renaissance architecture through its magnificent castles, cathedrals, and gothic towers.

But there is more to Prague than sightseeing the tourist spots —  if you know where to look. The good news is, you’ve come to the right place if you’re in the mood for fantastic adventures! It’s time to mix things up a bit with these fun-filled adventures you should try on a weekend in Prague.

Take a Prague City Tour

A panoramic view of Prague Castle neighborhood, seen from the other side of the Vltava River. The houses are painted in pastel colours and the black church dominates the skyline, on top of the hill.

If you’re a first-timer in the ‘City of a Hundred Spires’, don’t skip Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and the Astronomical Tower.

The Prague Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the official residence of the President of the Czech Republic. Roam around the castle grounds for free and witness the changing of guards every hour. Best time would be at noon to catch the ceremonial exchange of flags.

You can also revel in the scenery over the Vltava River — the longest river in the Czech Republic — as you walk across the Charles Bridge.

Stroll around Old Town Square where the Astronomical Tower is located and chance upon an hourly performance of the walk of the 12 apostles. Climb the tower and take bird’s eye pictures of the Old Town Square.

Take the free guided walking tours if you’re feeling spontaneous. If you don’t feel like going on foot, there are vintage car tours, e-scooter tours, and bike tours around Prague.

Enjoy Scavenger Games around Prague City

Sightseeing can be quite boring for large groups. Why don’t you add in a bit of competitive spirit? How do scavenger games and treasure hunts around Prague City sound to you?

Not only do you get to visit Prague’s lovely tourist spots, but you’ll also enjoy playing fun games with your friends, family, or colleagues and win prizes! There are several game packages you can avail of, which already include photos and videos to capture the camaraderie.

So when you think back about Prague, you’ll not only remember the tourist sites but also the laughter and playful banter with your mates.

Have a Go at one of the Prague Escape Rooms

If you’re into solving riddles and accomplishing missions with extra thrill, then perhaps you’ll also enjoy Prague’s escape rooms. With great teamwork, sharpness, and grace under pressure, you’ll be able to finish on time and escape the room!

Award-winning escape rooms have creative themes like the haunted house, zombie worlds, dungeons, wonderlands, and the like. These are themed rooms where groups can play interactive games in. You’ll experience a different touch of Czech culture through stories entwined with adventurous games that are perfect for team-building activities.

Join a Prague Food Tour

The national dish of Czech republic, beef with dumplings. There are two slices of beef on a white plate covered with an orange sauce. On the left hand side of the plate there are the bread dumplings. The meat is topped with sour cream and red cranberry jam.

The best way to a man’s heart, they say, is through his stomach. But that goes the same for tourists! The best way to explore the culture of a brand-new place is to taste the local food.

Join one of Prague’s food tours wherein you’ll stroll around Prague’s local food scenes and taste traditional Czech food along the inner alleys of the Old Town Square. Here are just some of the must-tries in your food checklist:

  • Chlebíčky or open-faced sandwich
  • Svíčková or braised Beef with dumplings
  • Grilované klobásy or grilled sausage
  • Zelňačka or sauerkraut soup
  • Gingerbread
  • Honza Hochsteiger ice cream

Go on a Jazz Dinner Cruise

If you just want to chill on a weekend night with some music and food, then you should try joining a jazz dinner cruise. This is perfect for spending quality time with your loved ones, or even for soloists who want to enjoy some me time.

Jazz boats in Prague sail every night over the Vltava river and pass under Charles Bridge. You’ll get to appreciate Prague’s famous landmarks from afar at night while sipping on a cool drink. You also have the option to savor a 3-course meal with Czech’s traditional cuisine. Enjoy the trifecta — the night view of Prague’s city lights, smooth relaxing jazz music, and tasty Czech cuisine.

Relax at the Beer Spa

Did you know that beer is much cheaper than water in Prague? That’s how much of a big deal beer is in Prague. It has gotten to the point where you can even bathe in Czech beer — it’s called beer spas!

Yes, you read that right. Czech people believe that the ingredients of beer have revitalizing effects on the body. There are several beer spas around Prague City where you can dip into wood tubs filled with beer ingredients (e.g. yeast, malt, extract, hops) and drink all you can from beer dispensers.

There are also other options for relaxation such as lying down in hay beds, enjoying the hot sauna, and beer massage. What an eccentric, memorable way to relax on a weekend night only in Prague.

Go on the Karlovy Lazne Pub Crawl

Do you want to dance your weekend night away and get wasted at a Prague nightclub? Go with your friends and head on to Karlovy Lazne — the biggest music club in Central Europe! If you’re thinking about where to enjoy your bachelorette party, Karlovy Lazne will not disappoint.

With an entrance fee of 300 CZK, you can explore 5 floors with different types of music catering to diverse musical tastes. If you want to go up to the sky lounge, pay an extra 150 CZK. Enjoy drinks such as champagnes, liqueurs, spirits, vodkas, sparkling wines, beers, whiskeys/bourbons, and even non-alcoholic drinks.

Pull the Trigger at the Prague Shooting Range

How about shooting in Prague, because why not?

There’s something empowering about holding and feeling the weight of a gun while sighting those targets. Pulling the trigger and successfully hitting the targets will get you feeling like a badass heroine in an action movie!

It doesn’t matter if you’re a curious first-timer or an experienced gun enthusiast. The best shooting ranges in Prague have amazing facilities and instructors to cater to different experience levels. Although you’ll be shooting with rifles, shotguns, and pistols, rest assured that this activity is made safe. So go ahead and channel your inner Lara Croft character and enjoy your weekend in Prague’s shooting ranges.

Go Hiking (Bohemian Switzerland)

Go hiking around or near Prague if you want to get away from the city and appreciate the natural landscapes that Prague has to offer. If you have one weekend to spare, go camping in one of the Czech Republic’s national parks.

The most famous one is Bohemian Switzerland located 80 miles from Prague City. You can travel by train to Decin, then by bus, another train, or taxi — this will take between 1 to 2 hours of travel. There are several hiking trails in this national park, where you can visit noteworthy spots like Edmund’s Gorge and Pravčická Brána Stone Arch.

Take a Hot Air Balloon Ride over Prague Countryside

If you like to enjoy overlooking views without hiking, then a hot air balloon ride is another option. It may be quite pricey especially if you’re on a private tour, but if it’s your first time and you have money to spare, then this activity will surely be one for the books.

Hot air balloon rides are best enjoyed in the countryside away from the city, just less than an hour’s ride. You can avail of a balloon adventure package which already includes hotel pick up and drop off from and to the city.

So many good ideas here! I normally spend as much time as possible doing things like hikes (so Bohemian Switzerland sounds fabulous) and visiting castles. BUT I really love the idea of food tours, escape rooms (those are so fun!) and even trying shooting! Prague has so much to offer!

One day I would love to travel to many places around the world and Prague is one of them. These adventures look amazing. My husband would love the shooting range. I would love the food tour and the hot air balloon. Thank you for compiling, it is great for those who don’t know the area very well.

all these tips and ideas for a Prague trip sound so great; since I have never taken a cruise yet (I know) or gone on a balloon ride, I would love to do those.. and yes try one of the escape rooms too

wonderful options! I actually did a designed food tour and I loved it despite being a bit skeptical to Czech cuisine (I still rank it pretty low though). Hiking is always a great idea in my eyes and there definitely are numerous nice and easy places to do so not far from Prague.
